During a conversation with a close friend, he mentioned that he was waiting for God to show up and give him answers. "I just want to get a revelation as to what I am to do next and in the coming year. But I have gotten nothing and am still waiting on God to tell me."
We often want God to speak direct, out loud, and in a way we can understand clearly. Numbers 22: 22-35 has a donkey talking to Balaam. (Cool account) Not sure you'd want a donkey talking to you as you might be committed but God does show up and speak to you. Yet we all want God to speak to us direct and reveal His plan for the rest of our lives but many times He does it in a quiet breeze in a meadow, along the babbling creek or river, in the blue skies, in the heat of the day, with the birds on a branch or at a feeder, the flowers and vegetables we enjoy and consume, or in the starlit night. Direction is then revealed in our hearts and heads.
If we knew what was ahead along with the trials, pain, and hurt that we all encounter, we'd ask the Lord for a different life and not see growth that comes from trials. Everyone of us would be angry with God if we knew what was really ahead.
You would not be dependent on His daily guidance and would stop the daily relationship with Him. We might say, "If this is how my life is going to turn out and I have no control, why should I even talk to God. As we develop our daily relationship with Him and understand that to receive God's Favor and Blessings we must build out faith and trust which always means we really understand, "All things work together for those who love the Lord." Romans 8:28
Most importantly I see God reveal Himself in the little things but I usually don't realize it until I look back and see the results that helped or protected me and were not of my doing. That does strengthen my faith and trust in Him.
If you are caught in the "waiting until God shows up" part of your life. Take a walk, talk to Him as your best friend, and then listen for His voice. It may be a whisper and not the roar we wanted, but realize that He will give you direction by opening some doors for you to walk through instead of us breaking down the doors by our own stubbornness.
God shows up many times each day but we send Him away until we yell for Him in times of stress and trouble. Listen for Him walking by you. As our pastor often says, Give Him Praise!"
